
Americano :
Espresso with hot water added.
Cappuccino :
Coffee and milk in equal measure. The signature of this
drink is the milk that has been frothed up with pressurised steam. Always steam the milk before making the espresso.
Corretto:
Espresso spiked with spirit, e.g. Grappa
Espresso :
A cup of espresso should not exceed 30 ml and is produced by forcing high-pressure hot water through finely ground coffee. To coffee connoisseurs, espresso is the purest way to enjoy its aroma and flavour.
French Press:
A French press is a cylinder fitted with a plunger that is pressed down on a mixture of hot water and ground coffee to separate the coffee from the grind. A cup of French-pressed coffee with be noticeably fuller, with much more body, and often with more flavor. It will also have the tell-tale sediment at the bottom of the cup.
Latte:
Espresso with steamed milk and a dollop of frothed milk on top (more milky than a cappuccino).
Machiato:
Espresso with a splash or spot (translation of 'macchia') of steamed milk.
Romano:
Espresso served with a slice of lemon.
A sweet, fragrant, full-bodied coffee, popular throughout the Middle East. It is brewed with dissolved sugar and contains a small amount of suspended coffee particulates in the finished drink, giving it a thick, syrupy consistency. Authentic Turkish coffee is prepared in a special copper or brass brewing pot with a long handle called an ibrik.
